Dorothy Dorton, AARP Associate State Director, will present information at the E. A. Roberts Alzheimer’s Adult Center next Educational Dementia Support Group meeting that will help caregivers learn how to build a support team. Mrs. Dorton has a Master’s Certification in Gerontology, is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, and is trained through the Alabama Dementia Education Training Act. She knows how important it is to share the care with others.

“Keeping Dementia Families Safe”

Mobile County Sheriff’s Office will present the next Educational Dementia Support Group with information concerning safety.  Topics will include Project Lifesaver, the Yellow Dot Program, and Senior Fraud Protection. E. A. Roberts Alzheimer’s Center hosts their monthly support group on the second Thursday of each month.  In the June meeting, Dana Adair will speak on “Recognizing Health Changes in the Dementia Patient.”   Come at 10 a.m. and join the conversation.

The Gulf Coast Dementia Services Support Group

The Caregiver Support Groups are held the second and fourth Tuesday from 11:00 – 12:00pm and meets in the Touching Hearts Senior Care office.  This is a free event and completely confidential.

The Gulf Coast Dementia Services Support Groups provide emotional, educational and social support for caregivers by master certified dementia health coach and dementia practitioner, Janet Rich Pittman, who conducts all sessions.
